Background of the project:
The project “ElKiS! Multilingual parenting talks at day care and school ”is funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung and is a successor to the“ ElKiS parent-day-care language mediators ”project, which has been running since 2016. Since its inception, the project has aimed to promote language mediation between early childhood educational institutions and non-German speaking parents. Through the training and placement of language mediators at daycare centers in Halle, questions have already been answered in almost two hundred conversations, misunderstandings discussed and relationships established where previously contact was barely possible due to language barriers.
In the meantime, the project can look back on three years of experience and expertise in the field, it won the German engagement award in 2017 and its advanced training concept and its results have already been passed on nationwide:

The project is now entering the second phase and would like to provide extensive support for language mediation structures and support the various parties in a “trialogue” - an interpreted conversation on equal terms.
Among other things, this should be done through the use of trialogue trainers.
